17 Year Old Red
November 9th, 2008
When several friends stopped by Saturday evening for dinner and wine, we decided to uncork a bottle of 1990 Tignanello. We picked up only two bottles way back in 1991 or so. They’re said to have peaked already, so we thought the occasion was right to give it a try. After we opened the bottle and decanted, the wine gave a strong musty or mossy aroma and was just as aggressive on the tongue. We let it aerate for 2-3 hours, after which it had opened substantially and was very pleasing.
